Common Core Essentials: I CAN Statements for Reading and Math for Fifth Grade

The Common Core State Standards (CCSS) are here. In 2014, almost all of the United States public schools will be using these standards in their classrooms daily.

In order to address the standards, it will be important for not only the teacher to know the standard being taught, but the student as well. For this to happen, it will be crucial for the teacher to post the objective for the students to view.

We have created Common Core Flipbooks that we use in our fifth grade classroom for both reading and math. As you can see from the below pictures, we have copied the cards onto card stock, laminated the cards, cut them out, and then combined them into one group with a metal ring. This will make for easy use when teaching a lesson involving a specific standard at the 5th grade level.
